'Most embarrassing badminton match ever' →

autumn-again:

The Badminton World Federation has charged eight female Olympic doubles players with “not using one’s best efforts to win a match”.

Four pairs of players - two from South Korea, one from China and one from Indonesia - could be disciplined.

Both pairs were already through to the quarter-finals. Reports have suggested they both wanted to lose to secure an easier draw.

Stupid. Stupid. Stupid.

But it’s hard to blame the players when their chances of attaining a medal is higher by losingThe game should change. How absolutely ridiculous and embarrassing.

After 4 teams already qualified for the quarterfinals, they attempt to throw their extra matches away in hopes of facing an easier opponent next round. But when two teams both try to throw their matches against each other, hilarity ensues. Crowds boo, and apparently all 4 teams may be disqualified after a hearing. There can only be one loser.
